At Computex 2023, ASUS showcased a range of new gaming products, including the ROG Swift OLED PG49WCD and ROG Strix XG259Q monitors; the ROG Swift PG38UQ gaming monitor; the ROG Strix Scope II 96 wireless keyboard; and the ROG Maximus Z790 Extreme and ROG Strix Z790- A motherboard.
But for me, the most exciting new Asus announcement is the ROG Matrix RTX 4090 graphics card.
Gaming Monitors and Displays
ASUS’ ROG Swift OLED PG49WCD gaming monitor has a 49-inch ultra-wide (5120 x 1440) display, 1800R QD-OLED panel with 144 Hz refresh rate, 0.03 ms response time, and up to 1000 nits of brightness. Ports include USB Type-C, DisplayPort 1.4, and HDMI 2.1.
The ROG Strix XG259QN gaming monitor features a 24.5-inch FHD display with a 360 Hz refresh rate and sub-1ms response time. The monitor’s port selection includes two each of DisplayPort 1.4, HDMI 2.0, and USB 3.2, as well as a headphone jack.
ASUS says its ROG Swift PG38UQ is the world’s first 38-inch 4K UHD gaming monitor with a 144 Hz refresh rate, Adaptive-Sync technology, 1ms response time and 98% DCI-P3 professional color gamut coverage. The PG38UQ’s HDMI 2.1 port supports native 4K 120 Hz gaming, and it also has DisplayPort 1.4. Onboard support for Nvidia G-Sync, AMD FreeSync Premium Pro and VESA AdaptiveSync 144Hz.
Motherboard and Router
The two motherboards Asus announced are designed for gaming. Its ROG Maximus Z790 Extreme is built for extreme performance and overclocking, while the ROG Strix Z790-A is built for style-conscious gamers looking for a balance between great gaming performance and eye-catching looks.
Another new product is the ROG Rapture GT-BE98, the first quad-band gaming WiFi 7 router. It boasts extremely high speeds and low latency thanks to support for WiFi 7, as well as a 6 GHz band with new 320 MHz bandwidth, 4096-QAM, and Multilink Operation (MLO).
Keyboards and other peripherals
In peripherals, the ROG Strix Scope II 96 Wireless, the first 96% wireless gaming keyboard in the ROG lineup, does a solid job. It features hot-swappable switches, including the all-new ROG NX Snow mechanical switches, and damping foam with integrated switch damping pads. Two additional keyboards were announced: the ROG Strix Scope II 100% Keyboard with ROG NX Snow switches, and the ROG Strix Scope II RX with IP57 and ROG RX Optical Switches.
Also on display at ASUS Computex 2023 are two previously announced mouse pads. ROG Moonstone Ace L is a large-sized mouse pad with a tempered glass surface for ultra-fast glide speeds. ROG Hone Ace XXL is the extended desktop version of the ROG Hone Ace Aim Lab Edition launched earlier this year, featuring an ultra-soft non-slip polyurethane base.
graphics card
Saving the most exciting news for last, Asus has unveiled a gorgeous new graphics card, the ROG Matrix RTX 4090, a revamp of an already powerful graphics card NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090According to the manufacturer, it’s a liquid-cooled graphics card and the first to “use a liquid metal cooling solution directly on the graphics card’s GPU die, enabling cooler temperatures for superior sustained performance and lower noise.”
The ROG Matrix RTX 4090 also features a 360mm radiator with magnetic daisy-chained fans, a more powerful pump and a larger full-coverage cooling plate to keep the graphics card cool. Asus plans to have a release window for its new graphics card in the third quarter of 2023, but pricing has yet to be announced.
