Advances in artificial intelligence are progressing at an incredible pace. While the technology is changing rapidly, the fundamentals behind artificial intelligence are not new.

AI has been around for years and has been built by many different developers. Some of the most notable AIs today include chatbots like ChatGPT and Google Bard, with many more to come.

Over the course of many iterations, these AIs became more complex and refined. These advances have brought artificial intelligence to the level of what is considered “strong artificial intelligence,” a machine that has essentially the same capabilities as a human mind.

1. What is artificial intelligence?

AI, or artificial intelligence, is a branch of computer science that aims to understand and store human intelligence and mimic human abilities, including completing tasks, processing human language, and performing speech recognition. AI is today’s leading technological innovation whose main goal is to eliminate tedious tasks and facilitate immediate access to extremely detailed and highly focused information and data.

2. What are the four main types of artificial intelligence?

The four main types of artificial intelligence are reaction machines, finite memory, theory of mind, and self-awareness. The most basic form of artificial intelligence is a reactive machine with limited memory. Theory of mind and self-awareness are two stages of artificial intelligence that are still in the theoretical stage because they are still developing. In the future, these two forms of artificial intelligence may be all around us. For a machine to reach the stage of self-awareness development, the most complex stage, it needs, as the name suggests, the ability to form its own identity and gain self-awareness.

3. What is the history of artificial intelligence?

While there have been many recent developments in the field of AI, its premise is not new, and the history of AI goes back long before chatbots. Some of the earliest names in the field of artificial intelligence were Alan Turing who created the Turing machine, Warren McCulloch and Walter Pitts who expanded on Turing’s ideas, and John McCarthy who coined the term “artificial intelligence.”
