Quordle Today (Game #442) – Answer
The answer to today’s Quordle game #442 is…
Today’s Quordle puzzles are the most original you can get. Think vanilla ice cream with no sprinkles or sauce, served in a plain white bowl. Each has three consonants and two vowels. None are distant obscure words. None contains repeated letters.
In fact, the only notable one of them is the BOXER, which has an X in it, so it might be hard to work around. In fact, it took me three guesses to get it right; I still had multiple possible answers, including ROVER, GOFER, JOKER, and BOXER, so it took several before I narrowed down in time to find it in my final guess.

Quordle FAQ: Everything You Need to Know
What is Quordle?
Wordle challenges you to guess a new five-letter word every day, while Quordle gives you four puzzles to solve. You don’t do them sequentially, you do them simultaneously. You get nine guesses instead of Wordle’s six, but the rules are otherwise very similar.
it streams via Quordle website (opens in a new tab) You can also pass Merriam-Webster website (opens in a new tab)after Dictionaries acquired Quordle last year.
As with Wordle, every day the answer is the same for every player, which means you’re competing against the rest of the world. Like Wordle, the puzzles reset at midnight, so you have a new challenge every day.
The site also includes a practice mode – I definitely recommend using it before trying the game! – There are also daily stats, including win streaks. You’ll also earn Quordle achievements – game-specific badges for winning a certain number of rounds, playing a large number of times, or guessing a particularly difficult word.
Oh, it’s hard. It’s really tough.
What are Quordle rules?
Quordle’s rules are almost the same as Wordle’s.
1. The letter in the correct position in the answer turns green.
2. Letters in the answer but in the wrong place will turn yellow.
3. Letters not in the answer are grayed out…
4. …but the word you guessed appears in all quadrants of the puzzle at the same time, so A can turn green in one square, yellow in another, and gray in the last two squares.
5. The answer is never plural.
6. Letters can appear more than once. So if your guess includes two of a letter, they might both turn yellow, both turn green, or one be yellow and the other green.
7. Each guess must be a valid word in the Quordle dictionary. For example, you cannot guess ABCDE.
8. You don’t have to include the correct letter in subsequent guesses, and there’s no mode equivalent to Wordle’s Hard mode.
9. You have nine guesses to find the Quordle answer.
10. You must complete the daily Quordle by midnight in your time zone.
What is a good Quordle strategy?
Quordle needs to be handled differently than Wordle. Solve four puzzles in nine guesses, and you can’t just throw letters blindly and expect to win – you’ll have a better chance if you think strategically.
Of course, this is also true in Wordle, but even more so in Quordle.
There are two key things to remember.
1. Use several starting words
First, you don’t want just one start word, but you almost certainly two or three words to begin with.
The first of these should probably be one of the best Wordle starters because the same factors that make them work well apply here as well. But after that, you should choose another word or maybe two that use more of the most common consonants and include all remaining vowels.
For example, I currently use STARE > DOILY > PUNCH. These three words use 15 of the 26 letters of the alphabet, including all five vowels Y and the nine most common consonants (S, T, R, D, L, P, N, C, and h). There are plenty of other options – where you might want to get an M, B, F or G instead of an H, maybe – but something like that should do the trick.
If all goes well, this will give you a good idea of what one or both of the answers might be. If not, good luck!
2. Narrow the scope
Second, if you come across a word whose answer could easily be one of several options – for example -ATCH, which could be MATCH, BATCH, LATCH, CATCH, WATCH, HATCH or PATCH – you will definitely want to guess one that can narrow down Words for these option ranges.
In Wordle, you can try several of them in succession and hope that one of them is correct, assuming you have enough guesses left. It’s risky, but sometimes it works. Plus, it’s the only option in Hardmode. But in Quordle, this will almost certainly lead to failure – you just don’t have enough guesses.
In the above scenario, CLAMP is a good guess since it can point to four of the seven words at a time.
