Soon after The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Released (May 12), after months of speculation, Nintendo finally announced a console to celebrate the upcoming breath of the wild The sequel…and I, for one, think it’s absolutely beautiful.at the end of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom demonstration (opens in a new tab)we got a sneak peak on this console – I’m tempted to upgrade since pre-orders are already open in Australia (where I am, although it looks like pre-orders are also open in the US and UK).
following Pokémon Scarlet & Violet or Splatoon 3 The Nintendo Switch OLED gaming console is no mean feat – both offer great designs that stay true to their respective franchises. But there’s something special about the Zelda-themed console that stands out above the rest, so much so that I’ve been regretting not grabbing the gold Nintendo 3DS XL that came with the re-release Majora’s mask Back to 2015.
Gold is the mainstay color of the Zelda series, and those who have played Ocarina of Time Back in the 90s you might think of gold N64 cartridges, and The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom The OLED version of the Nintendo Switch fully adopts this color scheme. The included Joy-Cons are a nice change from the usual bright neon options—offering a shiny soft gold with teal and white graphics on top.
The pier is also themed, with a golden Tri-Force positioned directly in the center of the white background. While recognizable, the design is subtle enough to be pleasing to the eye, while still conveying the theme of the upcoming new game.In fact, this subtle design is reminiscent of animal crossing new horizons Coming out in 2020, the Nintendo Switch happens to be my console to upgrade to.
Nintendo appears to be only releasing themed OLED consoles for now (no indication Nintendo Switch 2 anywhere), and if previous releases are anything to go by, it’s hard to find where to buy Joy-Cons for yourself, except from used sellers. So while that’s fine if you’re looking to upgrade from a Nintendo Switch, it’s not so great for your wallet as these consoles usually cost $349.99 / £319.99 / AU$549, although there are trade-in options for Help reduce costs a little.
If you don’t want to buy a whole new console, but want some new Zelda-themed gear, you’re in luck.Same day from May 12th The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom At launch, you’ll also get a themed Nintendo Switch Pro controller and carrying case. Both games feature Tri-Force and circular graphics, which have played a major role in the latest title’s branding, for $74.95 / £69.85 / AU$109.95 for the controller and $24.99 / £19.85 for the case AUD 39.95.
Where to Find the Zelda Nintendo Switch OLED
You don’t have to climb any cliffs to find this console. Pre-order pages have popped up at a number of retailers, where you can find the console or accompanying accessories.
After years of dealing with the regret of not picking up a Zelda-themed console, no Lizalfos or Lynel can stop me right now. I’ll climb a cliff in the rain, or find all 900 Koroks to get this beautiful Nintendo Switch OLED.
