Asus has once again teamed up with Noctua to release a new version of Nvidia’s RTX 4080. According to Asus, following the success of the Noctua’s RTX 3070 and 3080 graphics cards, the two companies decided to collaborate on this new product, the RTX 4080 Noctua Edition, called the Asus GeForce.
according to official press release (opens in a new tab)the Noctua version “switches from the existing three slim 110mm fans to two of Noctua’s award-winning NF-A12x25 PWM 120mm units, and a more refined, custom radiator with a vapor chamber and five instead Two 8mm diameter heatpipes.” This would greatly enhance the current 4080 design by improving cooling and acoustics, which would also result in an extremely quiet fan.
Asus officially launched the GeForce RTX 4080 Noctua Edition, priced at $1,650, well above the $1,199 base price of the Nvidia graphics card. What you get is a very high quality product, but you are paying a lot for it at a super high price.
how it works
Noctua’s previous successful graphics cards, the RTX 3070 and 3080, had their heat pipes and size layout revised to best take advantage of the high-quality aerodynamic performance already available with the NF-A12x25 fans. However, this updated version of the RTX 4080 is getting a complete design overhaul.
The 4080’s radiator has been redesigned; a vapor chamber has been added for significantly improved thermal efficiency. Improved cooling allows the card to transfer all built-up thermal energy to five heatpipes instead of the two 8mm found in the original 4080 (and three pipes instead of six 6mm). This should result in better cooling performance than the original model, allowing it to run at lower fan speeds and thus reduce the graphics card’s noise level.
Even if you run these new fans at maximum speed due to poor case ventilation or high ambient temperatures, the noise reduction is claimed to be as high as 14.9dB(A), which is the threshold of human hearing. This means you can barely hear fan noise. At moderate speeds, the Noctua runs at 16.8dB(A) of noise while only warming up by 0.8°C. Finally, at a low fan speed with an external temperature of 23°C, the noise level reached 4.8 dB(A).Basically, these GPU fans are very quiet, which is what we ASUS GeForce RTX 3080 Nocuta Edition Review
If you’re looking for a graphics card that’s capable of overclocking while remaining cool and quiet, the Asus GeForce RTX 4080 Noctua Edition should be the answer.
