New images of Nvidia’s RTX 4060 Founders Edition graphics card may have leaked online, which could be good news for gamers if true.
Both sets of images were posted by Twitter user Elysian Realm and courtesy of KitGuru (opens in a new tab). one for one possible RTX 4070 Ti Founders Edition, another possible RTX 4060 Founders Edition.former doesn’t seem to have much water (opens in a new tab) Because only the PCB is really visible, and it’s covered in thermal paste, obscuring the model name.
but that RTX 4060 images (opens in a new tab) Probably dust, since the body is more visible and easier to analyze. From what we’ve seen, the build looks more plastic, including the white trim lining on the card and the black trim on top of the connector. We can also see that the fan build very similar (opens in a new tab) arrive RTX 4090, 40803090 and 3080 graphics cards, based on their opposite fan designs.
Does this spell a true budget graphics card option?
Considering the fact that this possible RTX 4060 is mostly plastic build lends even more credibility to the leaked images. After all, who would really give away such a basic card and not some gorgeous metal artwork? It makes perfect sense for it to be made of plastic, as it keeps costs down (compared to simply casting a mold vs. having to machine cut metal), making it a viable budget card.
If these leaked images are true, then this could be good news for consumers. As we all know, the cryptocurrency boom has made RTX 3000 series graphics cards popular Nearly impossible for most buyersThe current lineup of RTX 4000 series are high-end quality graphics cards that are expensive and most gamers won’t even take advantage of as only a fraction of them actually play games at 4K resolution.
However, if Nvidia actually makes it much cheaper than the rest (around the $350 price range) and supports 1080p HD gaming, then you’ve got a card that most gamers can buy and use with their current setup. Especially since many people have 2000, 1600 or even 1000 series cards and have been itching to upgrade for years.
It could also mean that Nvidia will immediately take the wind from AMD’s sails. If Team Green releases it as a high-end budget card before Team Red can ditch its own 7700 and 7600 series cards, the latter will find themselves in a much smaller market when they release their cheaper RDNA 3 cards.
