Far Cry 5 Playability is now much higher on modern hardware, thanks to a performance patch released by Ubisoft to celebrate the game’s fifth anniversary.
This update applies to Far Cry 5 Now, that means PS5 and Xbox Series X|S owners can enjoy 60fps performance in all game modes. This includes both the single player campaign and the multiplayer component. Even the game’s map editor has received a performance upgrade, which is a nice touch.
Many fans of the series will likely welcome the update.Especially those who have been let down by the mediocre Far Cry 3 Classic Editionand those who feel Far Cry 6 Didn’t develop the franchise in any meaningful way.
Far Cry 5 Still a divisive entry in the series, many saw its setting for the American heartland as a step backwards from the series’ more exotic past.
The game’s story is also a bit stuffy, with a silent protagonist and villain who can’t relate to Far Cry 3 insane Vaas Montenegro or Joyful Megalomaniac Pagan Min Far Cry 4.
far from grace
While it’s nice to see games from the previous generation getting a free current-gen update that breathes new life into them, I doubt many will jump at the chance to replay them Far Cry 5 beyond its staunchest fans.Although I personally feel Far Cry 6 It’s a step in the right direction due to its setting and ridiculously interesting special weapons, it suffers from the same problem Far Cry 5 Made it before because it was an overly large open world filled with repetitive quests.
For the next game, I hope to go back to a more cohesive and meaningful open world. Far Cry 2 For example, the survival element, while controversial, imparts a layer of distressing vulnerability to the player character. Having to use pills to fend off the threat of malaria can be scary and stressful, especially in a firefight. It’s a particularly punishing game, where every win feels deserved and the rewards are only temporary.
There are definitely some interesting elements in the overt power fantasies of the late Far Cry.and Far Cry 5 Thanks to its new performance patch, it will play better than ever on PS5 and Xbox Series X in particular. Although I do hope Ubisoft plans a very different approach for its next Far Cry game. One that makes you a prey, not a predator.
The good news is that Ubisoft may have hinted here. Assassin’s Creed Valhalla does streamline its open-world elements, reducing repetitive quests and making the loot found more meaningful. I think the next Far Cry game could benefit a lot from this.
