Google’s upcoming Pixel 8 series may have a new feature that allows the phone to boost the visual quality of videos, similar to Photo deblurring on Pixel 7 Pro.

It’s called Video Unblur, and it was first created by Form a team at 9to5Google (opens in a new tab) Whoever dug up the latest version of the APK file of Google Photos (Android Package Kit). They are able to force enable Video Unblur’s user interface on the application. However, the team couldn’t make it work. According to the report, the tool currently “does not have any noticeable impact on video,” as it is likely still in development. But once it launches, 9to5Google says the tool should work like Photo Unblur, using machine learning to beautify videos shot on Pixel 8 phones — possibly.
