Sleep Week 2023: How to Sleep Better
This week we’ll explore a variety of sleep-boosting topics, with experts looking at things like how to fall asleep faster, whether napping is good for sleep, and how to wake up early without feeling groggy for the rest of the day. We’ll also tackle the big question that can really affect sleep for many: How do I stop snoring?
We’ll also look at what it’s actually like to use a sleep tracker, and the practicalities of getting the best night’s sleep each night, and we can of course recommend the mattress that best suits your individual needs (and help you get the best price when you buy it). If you haven’t replaced your mattress in a few years, buying a new one could be a big change you need to make to refresh your sleep.
Beyond that, we can guide you in choosing the pillow that best suits your needs and provide expert advice on other bedding to help you sleep well and wake up refreshed.

What is Sleep Awareness Week?
Sleep Awareness Week was started by the National Sleep Foundation (NSF) in 1998 to place greater emphasis on the importance of getting regular, quality sleep. Since its launch, Sleep Week (as it’s known) has been a way to start conversations about sleep: how to do it better, for longer, and why getting seven to nine hours a night is important.
NSF is promoting Sleep Awareness Week as a great way to help you sleep your best self. One of the best ways to do this is to make sure you have a relaxing bedtime every night, including going to bed at the same time and completely relaxing before closing your eyes.
Some other sleep tips you can use to become your best sleeping self include:
- stick to a consistent sleep and wake schedule
- Limit your tech use (or use night mode) in the hour before bed
- avoid caffeine after noon as it can affect how quickly you fall asleep
- Do not exercise vigorously before bed as it will wake you up
- Practice Deep Breathing Techniques for Sleep
- Use a good sleep app to relax and sleep
- Make Sure Your Bedroom Is Cool, Dark And Quiet – Block Out Noise With Sleep Plugs
