
Domain Registrar and Web Hosting (opens in a new tab) GoDaddy has launched a new system that allows business owners to register a new domain and start accepting payments from customers immediately.
Paid domains are branded paid links that create a checkout page that can be shared via link, allowing US domain name customers to begin accepting payments immediately after purchasing a newly registered domain name.
Payable Domains is available now, does not require a website or eCommerce store to function, and can be customized with company logos, product images, product or service costs, or other branding content.

Similar to Monzo’s shared payment link service, GoDaddy’s new offering includes the ability to share payment domains with customers via text, social media or QR codes, with a transaction fee of 2.3% + $0.30 per online transaction.

“While there has been innovation around add-on products to domain names, such as domain privacy and ownership protection services, not much has been done to enhance the capabilities of domain names themselves,” said Paul Nicks, president of domain names at GoDaddy.

GoDaddy customers who register their name or business domain name will then receive the corresponding payment domain name to accept payment. Once the first payment is received, the domain owner will be able to link the bank account to their GoDaddy payment account.
Currently, GoDaddy Payments is integrated into many GoDaddy Commerce products, including its website builder, managed WordPress, and managed WooCommerce store plans.
