recently expanded its scope immersive background for google meeting Phones, adding tiny animations to backgrounds like apartments and cafes, Google now thinks it has something better.
The new “dynamic experience” is Announce (opens in a new tab) inside google workspace Updated weekly recap for February 17, 2023 to include two new 360 backgrounds – Beach and Temple – that use the power of your phone’s gyroscope and artificial intelligence to seamlessly move the background as you do.
The new feature is now available for video conference calls on Android and iOS devices for all Google Workspace and personal accounts, though Google does note that admins have the ability (and, let’s be honest, sworn obligation) Close up of whimsical backgrounds at work (opens in a new tab).
Analysis: not this one
Let’s get this out of the way: the backgrounds are well done because they’re high-fidelity and the motion transitions are seamless.
The problem is that they’re such overtly static images that they seem less personality than the already available “immersive backgrounds,” or, God forbid, the actual real-world space in which you exist.

Unless you have a Harry Potter shrine, you shouldn’t be embarrassed by your office or bedroom backdrop. We all know you don’t get a tan on the beach, you’re cooped up in your semi, wondering what went wrong, and if they’re ever going to come back. It’s okay, we’re all here waiting for you.
You have to think about how far we’d progress if tech companies took developers to do these jobs and gave them something of almost any value to Google Meet or life itself to keep living.
