Popular password manager 1Password has announced a major update to its iOS and Mac apps with hundreds of new features and improvements across the board.
Among the most significant upgrades, 1Password version 8.10.0 will now include new customizations to the home screen, the ability to reorder saved credential fields, new keyboard shortcuts for the iOS app, and better search functionality.
The new update also fixes various bugs and improves Face ID and Touch ID operations when unlocking 1Password on iOS devices.
easier and faster
in its blog post (opens in a new tab) As 1Password detailed the new updates — which are also coming to Android, PC, and Linux platforms — 1Password said the overhaul was in response to user feedback.
On the iOS app’s new customizable home screen, where you can pin certain items you want to access quickly, there is now an always-on navigation bar that allows access to items across all your accounts. You can also search for anything in the manager and get instant access to the improved Watchtower functionality.
This is a dark web monitoring tool for password managers capable of detecting if any of your credentials have been exposed in known third-party data breaches. If this applies to you, it will alert you so you can quickly change them – which you need to if you don’t want to become a victim of identity theft.
Watchtower also gives you an overall security score for your entire vault, evaluating your performance based on whether you have any weak passwords, inactive two-factor authentication, compromised passwords, and other metrics.
If you choose to add a security question field to one of your projects, you can now randomly generate answers so you don’t have to come up with answers for things like your mother’s maiden name or your first pet.
Collections are also a new feature, which allow you to group different vaults as you see fit, such as separating your work from personal items, or creating collections dedicated to travel, or one for shared vaults , and another for private vaults.
With a new update, it’s also now faster to autofill all the information you’ve stored in your vault, such as your passwords, bank details, addresses, and more, into websites or apps.
