
Amazon is allegedly developing a live-action Spider-Man noir TV show for Prime Video. type (opens in a new tab).
The series is said to be in early development and is the second live-action Spider-Man project Prime Video is working on. The untitled work, set in 1930s New York, will tell the story of a grizzled, elderly and world-weary vigilante more than the average fan is used to.
Oddly enough, the main character of the series won’t be a variant of Peter Parker. In the comics, the noir Spider-Man is an alternate universe version of the Peter Parker fans know and love. However, a source close to the project says this Peter Parker won’t be the show’s lead.
Oren Uzil (lost city, 22 Jump Street) will write and execute the production black spidermanPhil Lord, Chris Miller and Amy Pascal — all of whom have been involved in varying degrees in Sony’s Into the Spider-Verse project — will also serve as executive producers on the show.
No word on whether Nicolas Cage will voice the noir Spider-Man in the award-winning 2018 animated film Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, will play the character from the Amazon TV show.Another option available at Amazon might be Milo Ventimiglia, who is at ultimate spiderman animated series. Analysis: A Tangled Network of Intersections
Amazon’s desire to create its own Spider-Man universe is all the more curious when you consider the sheer amount of Spider-Man content (both live-action and animated) in development.
Currently, Sony Pictures owns the rights to more than 900 Spider-Man characters, including Spider-Man’s appearances in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).Sony has also been hard at work developing its own Spider-Man-inspired multiverse — commonly referred to as the Sony Spider-Verse (SSU) — that would include things like venom, mobiusand the upcoming animated sequel Spider-Man: Into the Spider-VerseAdding to the fact that Tom Holland’s Peter Parker has starred in multiple MCU films, the addition of a third Spider-Verse on Prime Video only complicates matters.
However, with the establishment of SSU enter the spider verseUpcoming multiverse exploration Mrs Weber Movie, this noir Spider-Man TV show could potentially tie in with Sony’s master plan for a larger Spider-Man multiverse. Alternatively, Sony could spin off some of Amazon’s Spider-Man projects, especially if it plans to use items like Silk and Spider-Man Noir in its own multiverse.
