Whether you’re looking online for the perfect birthday gift for a loved one or looking for the best dermatologist in your area, what you’re searching on your computer has nothing to do with anyone else. However, our devices are designed to make our searches more efficient, and they do so through the use of autofill.
While autofill entries can speed up searches, they can also get you into awkward situations, especially if you don’t want anyone seeing what you’re searching for.
That’s why I’m going to show you steps you can take to remove autofill and clear existing autofill on your PC and Windows browser.
Before we dive into the techniques below, I want to explain the difference between to clean up autofill and delete Autofill.

Clear and delete autofill
- clear autofill refers to the process delete suggestion Appears in your web browser’s address bar or search bar as you type. This can also be called “Remove Autocomplete Suggestions”.

How to Remove Autofill in Google Chrome
Once you know your Chrome browser is up to date, follow these instructions to remove autofill:
- Open chrome alloy
- In the upper right corner of the screen, click 3 vertical points (should be next to your avatar)
- click set up
- In the left panel, select autofill
- A list of items that use autofill (i.e. password managers, payment methods, etc.) will appear.Click on each one you don’t want to use autofill, then close everything
How to Clear Existing Autofill Data in Chrome
- Open chrome alloy
- In the upper right corner of the screen, click 3 vertical points (should be next to your avatar)
- choose historythen choose history Again from the menu that appears
- In the left panel, select clear browsing data
- press advanced tab
- inside time limit menu, select all day long (this step may depend on which version of Chrome you have)
- make sure Autofill form data is checked.Check any other options you want to clear
- choose clear data

- Open microsoft edge
- click 3 points in the upper right corner of the screen
- choose set up
- The menu should default to Introduction. If not, select this option from menu on the left.
- inside your personal data part, closure Passwords, payment info, and any other options you don’t want auto-filled

How to Clear Existing Autofill Data in Microsoft Edge
- Open microsoft edge
- click 3 points in the upper right corner of the screen
- choose set up
- choose Privacy, Search and Services
- under clear browsing datachoose Choose what to clear
- inside time limit menu, select all day long
- tick Autofill form data (including forms and cards). Check any other options you want to clear
- click clear immediately

How to Remove Autofill in Firefox
- Open firefox
- click 3 lines in the upper right corner of the screen
- choose set up
- choose Privacy and Security
- under Forms and Autofilluncheck the option you wish to disable autofill
How to Clear Existing Autofill Data in Firefox
- Open firefox
- click 3 lines in the upper right corner of the screen
- choose set up
- choose Privacy and Security
- under login and passwordUncheck Ask to save login and password for the website
- To clear saved logins and passwords, click the saved login
- eliminate Any login information you don’t want to save
