Air Fryer Bread Pudding Dessert Toppings
I have not listed set quantities for all the ingredients below, as this will depend on how much you prepare, the size of your air fryer, and any extra ingredients you add. The following formula and dosage should be used as a guide.
- 2 slices of bread
- 2 eggs
- 200ml milk
- sugar
Due to the nature of this dessert, you can replace the eggs with vegetarian alternatives, such as flaxseed with water. You can even use applesauce or thinly mashed bananas to bring the ingredients together (and add extra flavor).
I’ve made this pudding with oat milk and coconut milk – both of which work just as well, if not better, than raw.
I also mix vanilla into the milk and egg mixture, sprinkle cinnamon on top of the pudding, and even sprinkle melted chocolate on top.
How to make Air Fryer Bread Pudding Dessert
i used Tower T17099 Vortx Eco Double Basket Air Fryer (opens in a new tab), set at 175°C (350°F) for 15 minutes. This results in the creation of a crispy golden top while ensuring the eggs are cooked through.
If you’re adding chocolate, I recommend either melting it separately and pouring it over the plate when serving, or adding the chocolate after the first five minutes to avoid it sticking.
step 1: Combine eggs and milk into a plate or bowl (make sure the plate/bowl fits the fryer). You can also use ramekins to make mini puddings.
notes: It’s possible to make this pudding yourself in the air fryer basket, but it’s messy and cooking times will vary.
Step 2: Sprinkle a little sugar in the milk and egg mixture.
Step 3: Tear off chunks of bread and soak them in a mixture of milk, eggs, and sugar. Make sure the bread is completely submerged.
the fourth step: Sprinkle another pinch of sugar over the plate (add more if you have a sweet tooth). I also like to add a little cinnamon at this stage.
Step 5: Place the dish in the air fryer and cook at 175°C (350°F) for 15 minutes.
Step 6: Serve with ice cream, melted chocolate, powdered sugar—or just stuffed in.
Air Fryer Bread Pudding Recipe Verdict
For such a simple combination of ingredients, this dessert is quick to make and delicious. It’s easy to switch flavors to your own taste, and it’s the ideal pudding for those times you don’t have any other sweet treats in the house but want to enjoy a treat.
It’s also a great way to use up stale bread.
As far as looks go, this pudding isn’t going to win any awards. Also, you have to make sure you’re getting the correct ratio of milk to eggs to avoid making sweet scrambled eggs.
But if you’re after a delicious, quick, affordable, and convenient after-meal — or even mid-afternoon — meal, you can’t go wrong with this recipe.
