Facebook is still good at reminding us of birthdays and sharing special events in our lives. I’ve always wondered what Facebook’s algorithm was offering me in the feed it wanted me to participate in. Often, I get an unexpected message from someone who looks like a friend, or possibly a friend of a friend, and I click without thinking and are instantly sucked in.

Have you ever clicked on something or replied to a message on Facebook, only to find out it wasn’t who you thought it was?

Increasingly, social media platforms are also the perfect place for malicious hackers to try to harvest personal information from you, or worse, post content that doesn’t belong to you to your public page.

That’s why you need to know how to change your Facebook password often, and I’ll show you how.

How often should I change my Facebook password?

Because so much personal information is stored on the Facebook platform, you will need to change this information periodically. I recommend at least every three months. If there is any reason to believe that your account has been compromised, such as someone posting on your behalf, you must act quickly to regain control. Keeping your passwords fresh is one way to avoid being sent down this rabbit hole. If you can’t remember when you last changed your Facebook password, it’s wise to update it now.
