Wireless TV isn’t exactly a sci-fi idea — LG shows off a 97-inch wireless OLED at the show CES 2023, it was one of the most eye-catching items in the company’s crowded booth. But far away in a quiet, secluded corner of the crowded central lobby of the Las Vegas Convention Center, there might be something more interesting: a fully wireless 55-inch 4K OLED TV.

The TV, wireless base station, battery and charger cost $3,000, and you can buy four TVs from the company for $9,000.
Why would you want four Wireless Displace TVs? Because you can combine them to create a 110-inch 8K TV. These devices have a top-mounted camera that tracks hand movements, and by using pinch and spread gestures, you can display an image on one of the screens to zoom in and fill all four. (The Displace TV Wireless Base Station, which streams to the display via Wi-Fi 6E, has multiple video inputs for viewing different sources simultaneously, and it also has a Smart TV connection.)
It’s kind of exciting to witness this shrink and unfold feature, but even cooler is watching the TV mounted on the wall.
Displace TV’s proprietary Active Loop Vacuum technology draws low power from the battery and is used to secure the unit to a surface without any mounting hardware – just grab the latch on the side of the panel, pull, and the vacuum seal releases . You can then take this lightweight TV (about 16 lbs) to another room, push to mount it securely on the wall, and keep watching.
As impressed as I was with the Displace TV in action, the current version has some drawbacks. When multiple TVs are grouped together, there will be noticeable gaps between the panels. That’s a far cry from the seamless images you get with 100-plus-inch MicroLED displays, which are also put together from multiple panels. These TVs also feature a highly reflective screen surface — easy to see in trade showrooms with bright overhead lights.
But considering the cutting-edge technology here, and the relatively low price you’re paying for a 110-inch 8K OLED TV (LG’s 97-inch 4K OLED costs $25,000 and uses wires), Displace TV’s offering is a solid bargain.
