Have you ever recorded a video on your smartphone but it took too long to send or post, or were you just not happy with the result? Well, you are not alone. For these reasons, most of us these days have videos of us doing nothing.
Here are some easy ways to make quick and easy video edits on your phone — without the help of any special apps.
How to Edit Videos on iPhone
While the iPhone’s built-in camera allows you to record video in movie and slow motion modes, you can also slow down, trim, add filters, or adjust video directly from the Photos app.
trim video
- Open the video you want to edit
- tap edit
- Move the sliders on either side of the video timeline at the bottom of the screen to where you want the video to start and end.
- tap Play preview your edit
- tap complete.
Here you can choose “save video” or”Save the video as a new clip“. Clicking “Save Video” will save only the newly edited version of the video, while clicking “Save Video as New Clip” will save both the original video and the newly edited version.
How to Digitize Old Photos and Slideshows
If you hit “Save Video” by mistake and want to save the original video, don’t worry, it’s easy to fix.
- Open your edited video
- tap edit
- tap recover
- tap Restore.
In addition to restoring the video to its original length, this will undo any other changes you may have made to the video.
Adjust picture, color and audio
- Open the video you want to edit
- tap edit
- click Adjustment icon
- Scroll to adjust Exposure, Highlights, Shadows, Contrast, Brightness, Black Point, Saturation, Vibrance, Warmth, Tint, Sharpness, Clarity, and Vignetting.

- Open the video you want to edit
- tap edit
- click filter icon
- Scroll and choose your favorite filter.
Crop or rotate video
- Open the video you want to edit
- tap edit
- Click on the fourth icon at the bottom
- You can create custom parameters by clicking the icon in the upper right corner or choose from standard sizes
- Also, you can mirror the video, or rotate it using the two icons in the upper left corner.
As always, if you don’t like the changes you made to the video, you can always go back and restore it with a click editThen recover.
How to Edit Videos on Android
As on the iPhone, Android users can make quick and easy edits to their videos directly from Google Photos.
trim video
- Open the video you want to edit
- tap edit
- Drag the handles on the video timeline to where you want it to start and end
- tap Save a copy.

Crop or rotate video
- Open the video you want to edit
- tap edit
- tap crops
- To crop the video to a different aspect ratio, click the aspect ratio
- To change the angle of view of the video, tap the conversion, Then manually adjust the edges of the video, or simply click car.
- To rotate the video, tap the to rotateor use the dial above
- To automatically straighten the video, click the car.
Adjust effects in video
- Open the video you want to edit
- tap edit
- tap Adjustment
- Select the effect you want to adjust, including Brightness, Contrast, White Point, Highlights, Shadows, Black Point, Saturation, Warmth, Tint, Skin Tone, Blue Tint, or Vignette.

Add filters to your videos
- Open the video you want to edit
- tap edit
- tap filter
- choose filter
- Then swipe to adjust the filter to your liking.
Draw or highlight video
- Open the video you want to edit
- tap edit
- tap mark
- click pen icon If you want to draw, or if you want to highlight something, tap the highlight icon.
