If you’re looking for more news about Black Panther 2’s possible Disney Plus debut, we’ve rounded up some more information below. So what are you waiting for? Trapped in!
When is Black Panther 2’s Disney Plus release date?
Black Panther: Wakanda Forever doesn’t have an official Disney Plus release date. The MCU Phase 4 movie hits theaters in November 2022, but we think it’ll hit theaters in January 2023. That’s based on what we know about some of the best superhero movies coming to Disney Plus.
For starters, Marvel movies won’t be released on Disney’s streaming platform immediately after their theatrical release. Each film has 45 days of cinema exclusivity worldwide.if black panther 2 is released Exactly It will launch on Monday, December 26th, 45 days after November 11th.
Unfortunately, the December 26th launch won’t happen. Marvel has yet to release any post-Avengers: Endgame films on Disney’s streaming service shortly after their theatrical release. The exception to this rule is Black Widow, which has a July 2021 release date in theaters and on Disney Plus due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Additionally, Disney traditionally releases new movies and TV shows every Wednesday. That temporarily changed when her Hulk: The Lawyer debuted on Thursday (Aug. 18). This is due to the midweek episode release of the Star Wars TV show Andorra. Clearly, Marvel and Lucasfilm don’t want their mainstay franchises vying for audiences on the same day.
If Black Panther 2 followed Marvel’s traditional Wednesday release for Disney Plus, it would be Wednesday, December 28th, right? No – the Eternals hold the key to why.
Eternals opens in theaters on November 5, 2021, but won’t be available to stream on Disney Plus until January 12, 2022. That’s because Marvel co-released Spider-Man: No Way Home with Sony Pictures in December 2021. In our opinion, Marvel doesn’t want Eternals’ Disney PLus launch to clash with No Way Home’s theatrical run, as it could distract fans from seeing No Way Home.
Plus Wakanda Forever is still pretty lucrative — as of Dec. 16, it’s grossed $789 million worldwide (according to box office curse (opens in a new tab)) – it’s not in Marvel’s financial interest to end its theatrical run and release it on Disney Plus (for free, remember!) until Rear holiday.
All in all, don’t expect Marvel to release Wakanda Forever on Disney Plus until mid-January 2023.
Is there an end credits scene in Black Panther 2?
Yes, but there’s only one post-credits scene in Wakanda Forever — not two.
We break down what the end credits mean for the Black Panther movie franchise (and the MCU more broadly) in this Black Panther: Wakanda Forever Ending and End Credits Scene Explained article. It delves into more spoiler elements of the movie, so only proceed if you’ve seen the movie.
What is the runtime of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever?
Black Panther: Wakanda Forever runs for 2 hours and 41 minutes. This includes its only end credits scene and two end credits segments.
Interestingly, this makes Black Panther 2 the second-longest MCU movie of all time. It’s second only to Avengers: Endgame’s three-hour runtime, while being four minutes longer than the controversial Eternals film.
