What apps are infecting macOS users?

According to reports, the application causing all these problems is MacKeeper. Ironically, MacKeeper aims to protect Macs from malware by providing cleaning, security, privacy, and performance tools. oops. According to Elastic Security Labs report, 48% of Macs end up infected with malware from MacKeeper.

Despite the good intentions of MacKeeper, the fact is that the application can be easily misused by hackers as a malware vector due to its wide range of permissions and access to various processes and files. The risk of installing MacKeeper on your device may be higher, so if you downloaded it on your Mac, you should remove it as soon as possible.

How to remove MacKeeper from macOS

  • screw you Finder app
  • choose application
  • search MacKeeper
  • make sure this mac is selected and click the plus sign
  • choose Name open drop down menu
  • choose other
  • scroll down to System Files and check check box
  • click Name choose again System Files
  • Change “excludes” to ‘is included’
  • By right clicking and selecting delete all files in the folder move to trash
  • empty your trash By right-clicking the trash can icon in the lower right corner of the screen and selecting Empty Trash
