When it comes to your browser, it’s not just the browser you use. Some people start their computer and want the browser tab to reopen where they left off. Others may prefer a clean slate. Here’s how to do both.

Too many tabs?

If you’re working on a project or have gone down a rabbit hole, it’s understandable that you want to be able to take a break and go back to all your open tabs.

However, having too many tabs open does have a downside. It consumes a lot of resources and slows down your computer.

Let’s review how to set up your browser to open with a previous tab or a new one.

Chrome alloy

You can customize Google Chrome to open in a new tab or reopen the same tab you used to quit the browser last time:

To open Chrome to a new tab:

Open Chrome and click three vertical dotsThen set up.

click at startup and select open new tab.

To resume Chrome where you left off:

Open Chrome and click three vertical dotsThen set up.

click at startup and select Continue where you left off.

If your bookmarks are a mess, This is a better way to save sites you want to visit again later.

safari

You can launch Safari with a new window, a new private window, all windows from the previous session, or all non-private windows from the previous session.

To open Safari to a new window:

go safari > like and select general.

Next to “Open Safari with,” select a new window or a new private window from the drop down menu.

To open Safari and pick up where you left off:

go safari > like and select general.

Next to “Open Safari with,” select All windows from last session or All non-private windows from the last session from the drop down menu.

Firefox

When Firefox starts, a window opens by default with the home page you specify.You can click menu hamburger button and go set up > Family. The default is Firefox Home.

To restore a previous session when Firefox starts:

Start Firefox, click menu hamburger button, and select set up,So Universal Panel.

Under Startup, check the box next to Open previous windows and tabs.

edge

You can open Microsoft Edge to a new tab when you start it, or pick up where you left off.

To restart Edge:

Start Edge, click three dots icon, and select set up.

click at startup from the left pane.

The default setting is open a new tab. If something else is set, select it.

To open Edge with the same tabs as when you last quit:

Start Edge, click three dot iconand select set up.

click at startup from the left pane.

Choose an option Continue where you left off.
