New gameplay for the upcoming dark fantasy first-person shooter Witchfire has been released, and it looks like a bunch of steampunk demons and roguelike shooters.
First revealed in 2017, Witchfire has previously been dealt with some in-game footage, but nothing as substantial as this. While there is little context, story or plot to glean from the 2 minute video, there is definitely a lot of violence.
The first-person shooter will reportedly feature roguelike elements, including a plethora of medieval-style guns — from impact revolvers to automatic crossbows — as well as a plethora of hell monsters to use. It looks like you’ll be traveling through a dark gothic fantasy world and slaying the demon army that sent you.

The premise isn’t too surprising, given that the game’s director worked on People Can Fly’s 2004 shooter Painkiller. While the Witchfire looks different in several ways, it certainly captures Painkiller’s frantic, hellish shots. It’s been a while since any FPS has been able to capture the game’s posh arcade shooter – hopefully Witchfinder will suffice.
According to the trailer, it’s launching on the Epic Games Store and will be available in Early Access “soon”.
