Rode today officially released the successor to its popular audio streaming and recording hub, the RodeCaster Pro II.
Like its predecessor, the device promises to be an intuitive and detailed solution for simultaneously recording or directly streaming multiple audio sources – whether for podcasts, game streaming or multi-track recordings for musicians.
The Australian pro audio company is world-renowned for its microphones, which has made Rode a respected name in global studios for the past 5 years, but in recent years they have diversified.
In addition to some products that are more geared towards streaming and recording via computer, such as the RodeCaster line, the brand also released its first pair of headphones in March of this year, the five-star Rode NTH-100.
Improve
In terms of audio quality, Rode has developed a new revolutionary preamp that promises to deliver more volume to the mic and line inputs while maintaining ultra-low noise. A new quad-core audio engine powers the entire unit, allowing it to handle its integrated effects and other signal processing measures with ease.
A 5.5-inch touchscreen with haptic feedback and a rotary encoder allow quick access to various menus, guaranteeing intuitive and instant setup and customization.
As for connectivity, the RodeCaster Pro II supports Bluetooth to send or receive audio channels (for example, you can send a phone call to one of the channels).
There are three USB-C ports: one for power and the other for connecting the device to two computers, phones or tablets at the same time. This is especially a boon for game streamers that run two separate systems for their gaming platform and streaming computer.
There are four Neutrik combo inputs that can take 1/4″ cable or XLR inputs for microphones, four 1/4″ headphone outputs, and a pair of stereo 1/4″ outputs for speakers or studio monitors.
We’ll be reviewing the RodeCaster Pro II over the next few weeks to find out how successfully it lives up to its promise, and who exactly this unit is for.
The RodeCaster Pro II is available for pre-order from today for $699/AU$1,099 (around £600), which is $100/AU$250 more than the launch price of the first iteration. The RodeCaster Pro II will be available in the US, UK and Australia starting in June.
