Google I/O 2022 has come and gone, with a slew of announcements at the two-day developer conference. However, the Pixel was the star of the show, and Google gave us plenty of Pixel announcements to get us through summer, fall, and even 2023.
Did you watch the Google I/O keynote? If so, which Pixel device are you most interested in?
Some Pixel devices were highly anticipated at the event. The Pixel 6a is the fastest to arrive, with the same design as its flagship sibling. It will also be powered by the same flagship Tensor chipset, which is impressive for a phone starting at $449. iPhone SE (2022) territory. Of course, there are some compromises, such as smaller camera specs and a 60Hz display, but you still get great performance, and possibly long battery life.
The Pixel Buds Pro, which will arrive this summer alongside the Pixel 6a, will finally give us the ANC Pixel Buds we’ve been asking for. With the included charging case, they’ll last up to 31 hours, support wireless charging, and they look good too.
Google was also happy to give us an early teaser of the Pixel devices we’ll be getting this fall. The Pixel 7 and 7 Pro will have a similar design to the Pixel 6 series, and no, they won’t have the matte finish we were initially told (to the dismay of many). All we know is that they will run the next generation Tensor chipset and have a similar camera setup. We probably don’t know much about the Pixel Watch, which will launch alongside the upcoming flagship. It will run Wear OS, support LTE connectivity, and be the first Wear OS device to integrate Fitbit. Still, it’s exciting to see the long-awaited Pixel Watch At last future.
Finally, Google gave us a very early look at the upcoming Pixel tablet. Design-wise, it’s pretty simple and doesn’t exactly scream “premium,” but it’s clearly going to compete with the best Android tablets on the market. Unfortunately, we won’t release it until sometime in 2023. Still, it illustrates Google’s commitment to improving the Android tablet experience, which is why the Pixel tablet was Andrew Myrick’s favorite announcement at Google I/O.
